I am a former psychology professor turned software entrepreneur, who has been politically active on and off since the 1960’s. Since, there are many sides to my life, I have created multiple pages to tell you about me. I am not afraid to take a stand and I am not afraid to change my mind, when I see real data that may contradict an opinion I have. I received excellent training in the scientific method during my Ph.D. here at Michigan and I think that while you may start with a particular hypothesis, you need to be prepared to change your thinking based on what the data tell you. Too often, many decisions get made based on misinformation or political expediency.

About Deciding to Run

When Kim Groome had to leave her position on City Council I wondered about seeking the 1st Ward position, but I thought Tim Colenback, who had expressed a strong interest, would be a good representative. However, the Council voted to appoint John Roberts, who was apparently the college roomate of another council member, Chris Easthope. I’ve lived in the 1st Ward since 1987. I am active on many fronts in Ann Arbor from art and music to business and politics, but no one I know had ever heard of John Roberts.

In mid April, I was approached by several people asking if I would consider running for Council. For decades, I have thought that one day, when I am older, I would run for political office. I tend to forget how old I am, as many of my friends are in their 20’s and 30’s. After reminding myself that I am turning 56 this summer, I decided that I am older and that the time is right.
